REMEMBRANCE PARADE

The Elvington Remembrance Day Parade will take place this year on Sunday 12th of November.
All sections of Elvington Scout Group are asked to attend. This is a special event for all and is the only event where we ask for mandatory attendance. Every year the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers do us proud. Please meet the leaders at Elvington village hall at 10am.
Full uniform is required
Beaver or Cub jumper , Scout or Explorer shirt, necker, black or navy school trousers or skirt if you don’t have Scout Trousers , school shoes no trainers.
Please ensure your young person has plenty of layers underneath their uniform as Coats are not permitted on parade . If it’s extremely cold then black or navy gloves should be ok,
if your child is new to their section then they can either wear their previous section uniform or speak with your leader as we have some uniforms at the hut. Please ensure all young people are wearing a poppy.
Please ensure they have eaten a good breakfast prior to the parade.
The parish council may request photos at the end so please tell a leader if you do NOT want your young persons photo taken and we will ask them to step out of the parade before the photographer takes pics.
Complimentary drinks are normally available in the village hall afterwards for the parade participants and we should be finished by 12.
This is a great opportunity for our young people to represent scouting in the community.

P.S the main road from Wheldrake lane to Riverside Gardens is normally closed from ten until twelve so please bear this in mind if you’re coming from villages outside Elvington and give yourself time to get into the village before they stop through traffic.
